SMCC Summer Book Club: Jon Meacham

In expectation of Jon Meacham's 2027 O'Grady Lecture, SMCC will host a book club in July and August. Stuart Gordon will lead discussions on July 19, July 26, August 2, and August 9, at 2:00 PM in the church lounge. There will be a hybrid option, in order to accommodate summer travelers.

American Struggle: Democracy, Dissent, and the Pursuit of a More Perfect Union names nine distinct eras in our nation's history. You're invited to familiarize yourself with these eras simply by reading Meacham's brief introductions to each. We will discuss the first four eras during the book club.

If you wish, you can probe more deeply, reading the primary-source selections that Meacham has chosen as representative of the different eras.
