Rev. Beth Putney
Beth came to SMCC as the inaugural O'Grady Pastoral Resident for Theology and Culture in August 2023 after finishing her MDiv, Master of Christian Education and Formation, and Certificate in Theology, Women, and Gender at Princeton Theological Seminary. She is an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the PC(USA), and though this is her first ordained call, Beth has worked or volunteered in Presbyterian churches for 15 years in the areas of youth ministry, administration, worship leadership, missions, and pastoral care in Vancouver, WA, Philadelphia, PA, and now San Marino. She is passionate about innovation and social entrepreneurship in the church, the intersections of art and faith, ministry with young people, creation care, and justice. Beth loves that this role gives her the freedom to be creative in community and to nurture this passion in the congregation as they seek to understand the new thing to which God is calling them.
Hailing from the PNW, Beth spends most of her free time in search of evergreen trees and the perfect cup of coffee as well as reading four books at once---a habit she hasn't let go of since her liberal arts undergraduate days at Sarah Lawrence College.
