Dr. Peter Green
Dr. Peter Green was born in Newfoundland, Canada. He has a Masters of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California. In 1989, Peter received first prize in the national piano competition of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers Association.
Dr. Green has been Director of Traditional Worship at San Marino Community Church since summer of 2019, where he directs the weekly choir, as well as the SMCC Ensemble. He has instituted twice-yearly concerts with choir and orchestra for Christmas and Palm Sunday.
In addition to his duties at SMCC, Dr. Green currently serves as Chair of the Visual & Performing Arts Division at Glendale College, Glendale, California, where he oversees ten Departments, including Music, Theatre, Dance, Studio Art, Ceramics, Art History, Photography, Digital Animation, Media Arts, and Graphic Design. He is also director of the Glendale College Concert Singers, and on the board of directors of Glendale Arts and the Mark Thallander Foundation.
Peter has recorded several collaborative albums, and been nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008. Recently, Dr. Green recorded a piano/organ CD with organist Mark Thallander that was released in Spring, 2017 as well as a CD of new music for French horn and piano that was released in early 2020. He is also a frequent recitalist, adjudicator, and is a clinician in both piano and choral music throughout Canada and the US. Dr. Green was the featured soloist on the Beethoven 4th piano concerto in August 2017 with the Los Angeles International Conducting Institute.
When Dr. Green isn’t teaching, performing, or conducting, he enjoys riding his motorcycle or spending time in Palm Springs!
